Regina, SK – Tom Lukiwski, Conservative MP for Regina – Lumsden – Lake Centre, today announced federal government funding for the Duval Homecoming, celebrating the local history of Duval.
“Our Government is proud to support the Duval Homecoming Celebration,” said Minister of Canadian Heritage, James Moore. “By partnering with communities to support activities that celebrate our shared history and our rich cultural diversity, we are fulfilling our commitment to strengthen our communities and support arts, culture and heritage.”
“I am proud to be part of a Government that recognizes the importance of these celebrations,” said MP Lukiwski. “The 100th anniversary of Duval is a chance to celebrate everything that makes small town Saskatchewan great.”
The Duval Homecoming Committee has received funding of $3,400 to help present the Duval Homecoming, which will take place from July 2 - 4, 2010.
The Government of Canada created the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program in September 2007. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in local activities that present arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage. This program will benefit many community events and celebrations throughout Canada this year.
