Regina, Saskatchewan – Today Tom Lukiwski, Member of Parliament for Regina – Lumsden – Lake Centre, on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced one-time support that will provide Regina’s RCMP Heritage Centre with the time it needs to develop a sustainable business plan to ensure its future operations.
“The RCMP Heritage Centre is a treasure to all Canadians and one of Saskatchewan’s foremost tourism and historical attractions,” said Lukiwski. “That is why we’re providing this support that will ensure that the Heritage Centre can remain a strong part of Regina’s cultural landscape, and a proud symbol of the RCMP.”
The Government of Canada will contribute $2.1 million over the next two years to provide the Centre with the time and resources it needs to develop a longer term plan. This facility is a unique, world-class centre and serves as a Canadian and international tourism destination to teach visitors about the RCMP’s heritage, current operations and training.
This federal investment is being provided through Western Economic Diversification Canada, under the Western Diversification Program.
